What to expect from your commission...
So you’ve decided you want to commission me to capture your beautiful pet as a drawing or painting, great! Here’s some information on what you need to do, and what to expect during the process.
Initial Enquiry
Firstly please email/call me for availability - This will ensure that if you have a specific date in mind (e.g a birthday, anniversary etc) I have the space and enough time to produce your commission in good time for your event. If you don’t have a specific date in mind, its still best to contact me sooner rather than later as I do tend to book up quite quickly and can only guarantee a certain number of spaces each year. NOTE: For Christmas commissions I'm usually booked up by the end of summer for that year, so to avoid disappointment please contact asap.
Photos
I'd love to see some photos of the beautiful subject I’m going to be working with! – There's a number of reasons I ask for this; firstly I love to ‘meet’ your beloved pets, secondly the more photos you can send me the better an idea I can get of your pets personality/markings/coat etc.
I have put together some useful photograph tips, which can be used if you have no specific photo in mind. Otherwise I’m happy to accept any number of photos - the more the merrier! Once I find a photo that I will use as my main reference, I may ask you to send me the original digital file by email. This will ensure I can get the best quality possible to capture all your pets wonderful features.
If your pet has sadly passed away, and you are limited to the photos you have, then all is not lost - I have worked from old photos in the past and I will advise you whether it is something achievable or not.
Choosing exactly what you would like
During our communication, I will ask you what size and medium you would like for your commission. Under the commissions tab on my website you will find examples of my recent commission work which includes the size and medium of each piece. It's completely up to you and what your looking for from a piece of art, however if your unsure I am more than happy to advise as to what I think will give you the most striking piece.
Confirmation
Once you’re happy with the proposed commission, I will ask for a 50% deposit to secure your order. I request all payments are made by BACS - I will then get to work starting your piece of art!
Updates
Once I've begun working on your commission I will notify you, and keep you updated as little or as much as you like throughout the process. Some clients prefer to keep the visual progress a secret and appreciate a 'big reveal' at the end, whereas some clients prefer to receive an update with a photo at regular intervals. Again, this is completely up to you as I am perfectly happy to accommodate both options.
Completion
Once I have finished your commission notify you, and if you like, send you a photograph of the final piece. I will then be able to advise when it will be posted or when I will be available at my studio in LN6 for collection.
Once you are happy with the piece, prior to posting, I will ask for the remaining balance to be paid.
Posting
P&P is free within the UK. Collection from my studio in LN5 is available. Worldwide shipping is available and will be charged accordingly - please contact me to discuss.

A small request from me
I ask my clients to notify me once they have received their commission to ensure it has arrived safely. There’s nothing like hearing how the piece was received, so please do let me know as it’s one of the best parts of my job! Please also see my customer testimonials. Finally, I hope your commission brings you and your family and friends much joy over the years and I sincerely thank you for choosing me to produce a piece of art of your beloved pet.
